Events this week...

So hope you all had a great bank holiday weekend, I know we did here in Sly Fly land, hit up the last festival of the year. Some of us ended up at Eastern Electric getting down to the epic sound of Claude Von Stroke, while others were shacking it down to the carnival riddems in Notting Hill.

Now we have a couple of good nights coming up this week for you all to head down to, hopefully you will have recovered from the weekend in time..

First up we have an electro heavyweight making his debut at SOMEnight this week, all the way from Philly via Brooklyn, AC SLATER. With a badboy supporting line up coming from Breakage, Filed Under:K and our very own Sly Fly Dj's w/ Hype Man Sage

Full details here - SOMEnight #47

If weekend raving is more your thing then head down to the Lightbox in Vauxhall on Saturday night for Ripped.

You know why you should go to Ripped? To see our man Filed Under:K really get things moving with a serious tearout set.

More details here - Ripped

Peace and love

Scratch Perverts

So tonight I am off to see some of the best Dj's around, The Scratch Perverts, ply their trade in an intimate venue in London Town. I thought it would be fitting to post one of their tracks up so you all can get as excited as I am.

Unfortunately we're having trouble with our own soundcloud so im having to rip a track from someone else's. I promise to fix this.

No posts this weekend as i will be in a very muddy field listening to loud music... Enjoy the weekend!

Times are getting exciting in Sly Fly land.... We have been threatening for the last few months to start releasing records and we're so excited to announce the first official Sly Fly Records release.

One of our first signings over a year ago was west London jump-up king Filed Under:K. In that time he has been gaining a loyal fanbase through his remix work (Kissy Sell Out, The Temper Trap) and his intense DJ sets during his monthly residency at SOME.

After hearing some of the bangers FU:K has been working on in his studio we felt it was about time to let the world hear what this man has in his filthy mind.

We are happy to announce the as yet untitled Filed Under:K E.P will drop in all good digital retailers on Monday 15th Novemeber.

In the meantime please get yourself mentally prepared for a really savage record with one of Filed Under:K's fan favourite Yucca 3 Squared

If you have seen me dj in the last 6 month you WILL have heard this tune, I just cant ignore playing it. So good!

We luv George Lenton

Now any readers who have been with us for a while now will remember how much we love George Lenton. If you dont know why then you havent listened to his 1xtra mini-mix enough obviously!

Now in the couple months that we havent mentioned him he has still be churning out some absolute bangers so enjoy the selection below.

Some old skool Dizzee Rascal given a Lenton make over

I luv you (George Lenton remix) by georgelenton

Bit of a housey flex from GL this time, but with a signature drop that kills the clubs

I know, I know, its a Katy Perry tune but wait for the drop and tell me you dont get the screwface on

California gurls (George Lenton rmx) by georgelenton

Another example of Lentons amazingly tight production, getting some sounds that other producers cant get anywhere near at the moment

George Lenton - Makura by georgelenton

And finally a clip of a real George Lenton classic, go buy this tune its EPIC

Faithless

So not sure how many of you have heard the new Faithless album 'The Dance'. Faithless were a band that really hit the spot when I was younger, their trance-house anthems were perfectly accompanied by Maxi Jazz's unique vocals.

When the new album landed on my desk a few months back I was pretty excited, really wanted to hear what the legends were up to now, specially as they were no longer signed to a major label and had some freedom.

What I found was a mixed album, some really great and forward thinking tracks followed by some more standard and obvious offerings. But we wont focus on the negatives and below is my favorite track off the album.....

Comin' Around, featuring vocals from Dougy from The Temper Trap, is the kind of tune that made me fall in love with Faithless all those year ago, flowing minimal basslines with atmospheric pads and vocals

As a little bonus here's a mashup mini-mix of the latest Faithless album by Sister Bliss

Quick Post - Flux Pavillion

So here's another little quick post for ya....

We had Flux Pavillion down at SOME a few weeks ago and they tore it up, we thought we'd post up one of their latest remixes that I cant get enough of.... Enjoy

DJ Fresh - Gold Dust (Flux Pavillion Remix) by Ministry of Sound

Local Natives

Not the kind of band we normally feature on Sly Fly but I have to admit that LA-based Local Natives are one of my favourite bands around at the moment. Any of you who are looking for a perfect summer album check out 'Gorilla Manor' by LN, you will not be disappointed.

A band thats not scared of the remix they have put stems from their tracks up on their website so there are a few cool mixes flying around.

Check out this really nice and chilled dub/2step mix by DYM

Local Natives - Who Knows Who Cares (DYM Remix) by Damn You Mongolians

One of the official mixes from the single Eyes Wide was this great reworking from Fools Gold. Giving it a bit of a crunk/gangstar rap mash up while still retaining the beautiful vocal work form the band

Quickpost - Modestep

Still stuck in the mountains so I'm gonna have to be brief and to the point.

Check out my boys Modestep who we had play SOME a few weeks back, their big sounding dubstep/D&B tunes have been doing the rounds on Youtube and clocking some pretty impressive hits.

Check out a clip of 'Sunlight' above. Some summer-step for ya!

In the Clouds

Sorry for the lack of posts recently, I am literally in the clouds! I have escaped London for a couple weeks but due to my intense altitude internet is a little bit harder to come by than i thought!

I havent got any of my tunes so im afraid your gonna have to rely on some good old fashioned Youtube buzzness!

Seeing as i'm in italy I thought I would rep Italian producer Gigi Barocco whos tech-house sounds have been keeping me going while I have been hidden away from the world.

Huge post of my return I promise
