This mix was passed onto me this afternoon after spending the morning having a little bit of a Bjork moment. We had been talking about how we hadn't had enough 'beats' for a monday morning.
The choices one has to make when trying to decide what to listen to often drives you crazy! The invention of shuffle on itunes helped somewhat but you still run the risk of randomly stumbling upon that Paris Hilton remix you downloaded once and have never listened to again. I personally fear the wrath of shuffle and all its evil randomness.
Deciding is too hard and shuffle is too scary, what now is the best way to get your fix of suitable music? This is where the joy of the dj mix comes in!
When we all venture out to clubs and bars of an evening we can all be assured of one thing.... We have NO idea whats gonna be played! Sometimes this can backfire on you when you roll up to find a crunk Dj gracing the decks. But often its a great thing, having no control over what your ears are being subjected to, never hearing a song in its entirety, putting your faith in the dj's depth of musical knowledge and knowing that if you went up and asked for a track he will no doubt say no (stop asking for Day and Night or Justice, fucking annoying!!!)
Thats why we loved this mix, it suited our mood perfectly. We didnt know what we wanted to hear so why not hear EVERYTHING. Cagedbaby has done it again and made it even hard to classify his genre of music, so broad are his choices in track selection that when asked what kinda Dj he is i can never reply..... He's got a beard and plays beats, thats all you should care about!
